SAMS Go-Live Support Information

New SAMS is Going LIVE-July 6, 2026

The Illinois Office of Comptroller is committed to ensuring a smooth and successful transition to the new Statewide Accounting Management System (SAMS).

During the initial go-live period, the SAMS Hypercare Support Center will provide enhanced support to assist agencies with questions, troubleshoot issues, and help users successfully navigate the new system.

Whether you need technical assistance, guidance on business processes, or help locating training resources, our team is here to support you every step of the way.

Submitting a Support Request

To help us resolve your issue as quickly as possible, please provide detailed information when submitting your request.

Include the following whenever possible:

  • A clear description of the issue or question
  • The steps you completed before the issue occurred
  • Any error messages received
  • Screenshots or supporting documentation (if available)
  • The business impact or urgency of the issue

Providing complete information allows the Hypercare team to quickly review, prioritize, and route your request to the appropriate support team.

Need Assistance?

The SAMS Hypercare Support Center is your central point of contact for all post-go-live support.

Please submit all SAMS-related questions and issues through the Hypercare Support Request Form. Your request will be reviewed and routed to the appropriate functional or technical support team for resolution.

The Hypercare team can assist with:

  • Login and access issues
  • System navigation and general "how-to" questions
  • Transaction processing assistance
  • Error messages and unexpected system behavior
  • Business process guidance
  • Training and learning resources
  • Questions about reports, workflows, and approvals

Learning Management System (LMS)

Continue building your knowledge with the SAMS Learning Management System.

The LMS provides on-demand training and reference materials to help you confidently use the new system before and after go-live.

Available resources include:

  • Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Whether you're learning a new process or need a quick refresher, the LMS is available whenever you need it.

SAMS Modernization & Resources

Here you can find information and links for training available from the Comptroller's Office, as well as resources and forms related to the SAMS Modernization project. All training material is located in the Comptroller's Learning Management System (LMS).

Please note that in order to access the online trainings you must be an employee with the State of Illinois. If you are not a registered employee, you will be unable to login and view the trainings.

To view SAMS training courses and access other training materials login to the Comptroller’s Learning Management System (LMS).

Resources

The Comptroller’s Office uses a Learning Management System that houses all training documents, videos, and course material. If you have a log in, please click the link provided under the Training Portal section to go to the LMS system.

If you are not a registered user and do not have a log in, please contact SAMSMod@illinoiscomptroller.gov and request access. Please note you must be an employee with the State of Illinois or be a SAMS user in order to gain access to the trainings.

To help prepare SAMS users for the transition to the new system we have provided you with all the training knowledge that you will need to help prepare yourself. Review the training processes to identify your correct user type and courses needed to fully complete your SAMS training.

Our Training Process

Training Overview

The Comptroller's Office incorporates a mixture of training delivery methods and materials.

  • Instructor-Led Training (ILT) - The student attends training with an instructor. Training is offered online or in the classroom at the Comptroller’s Office in Springfield, IL. Students will be able to select training dates in the Learning Management System (LMS).
  • Web-Based Training (WBT) - Courses are available online in the LMS for the students to complete on their own schedule and at their own pace.
  • Workshops - Informal short sessions where you can come and ask any questions, review specific processes, or go over any examples.

SAMS User Type

Training for New SAMS is based off your current SAMS security. 

Advanced Users: Vendor; Accounts Payable; Contracts/Obligations Basic Users: All Others
System Responsibilities:
  • Enter directly into SAMS
  • Make modifications; Corrects errors; Users screens NVEN/ PO/ C14
System Responsibilities:
  • Basic inquiry and lookup
  • Examples: How to look up a vendor; See if a payment was paid; Check an appropriation

SAMS Courses

SAMS Getting Started Course

This course introduces the basic components of the Modernized SAMS application, including a review of Business Roles, logging in, the Home Page Navigation, QuickLinks, Widgets, User Profile, the Primary Navigation Menu, and the Home Page Footer.

Note* - This course is a required pre-reqisite for all SAMS Courses and users.
